My new Version 2 of the UNOFFICIAL LEGO SETS/PARTS COLLECTORS GUIDE on CD will
be shipping next week.  As part of the upgrade, the CD will now have an
additional 135 pages (1,400 in total), it will have 249,000 words, and 1,800
pictures.  The Insurance Price Guide will now be available in either Dollars or
Euros.

Also there will be 5 2/3 additional NEW chapters in the book on 1) old 1950's
and 1960's catalogs, 2) a pictorial old parts catalog, 3) old LEGO box designs &
artwork... including all the LEGO boxes and brochures with Kjeld and family on
the box top, a chapter on LEGO Toy Fairs and Model Shops, a chapter on LEGO
Sales offices (and their history), etc.

One interesting chapter will list LEGO items that were only sold in specific
countries.  Here's a cut paste from the chapter (on the CD there's ALSO a
picture of each item next to the text).  The subchapter I have chosen is the one
on LEGO elements ONLY sold in Britain/Ireland and Australia.

50.6 Britain/Australia/Ireland Only Lego Elements.

Some Lego elements produced in the 1960’s and 1970’s were unique to
Britain/Ireland and Australia.  From 1960-62 Britain/Ireland seems to have used
the same parts as continental Europe.  But when Australia started selling LEGO
in 1962, Britain produced items unique to Britain, Ireland and Australia.

1)  Esso Service Station Gas Pumps:  Found with a central white plastic
cantilevered light pole, instead of 2 metal end poles found in the rest of the
Lego world.  There were 3 gas pumps, 2 on one side of the central light pole,
one on the other.  Only found in 1963-65 British and Australian versions of #231
Esso Service parts packs, #310 Esso Service sets and #810 Town Plan sets.

2)  Esso freestanding sign with a curved top pole that curves over the oval
sign.  Only found in 1963-65 British and Australian versions of #231 Esso
Service parts packs, #310 Esso Service sets and #810 Town Plan sets.

3)  Gray curved top streetlights.  There are 2 versions, an earlier 1963-65
silver painted version, and a 1966-72 unpainted gray plastic version.  The
silver version was only found in 1963-65 in #233 Street Light Parts Packs and
#810 Town Plan sets.  The gray version was only found in 1966-72 #433 Street
Light Parts Packs and 1966-67 #810 Town Plan sets.

4)  British street signs.  These 14 different British style road signs were
found with a white base, instead of the gray base found in continental Europe
and USA/Canada.  The street signs themselves were slightly taller than the other
types.  They were only found in 1963-72 British and Australian spare parts packs
#232 (1963-65) and #432 (1966-72), and in 1963-67 #810 Town Plan sets.  The
boxes and catalogs show the street sign poles as being black/white striped, but
they were never actually released into circulation that way.  The poles were
always plain white.

5)  British Town Plan Board:  Found with a unique (left side driving) road plan.
The continental European and USA/Canada Town Plan boards had a right side
driving road plan.  Produced around 1962-66.  The British Town Plan board was
found as an individual board #200, and as part of the British Town Plan set
#810.

6)  ‘E’ Type Jaguar 1:87 metal wheeled small car:  This small plastic car with
metal wheels was sold from 1962-65, likely only in 3 colors (red, white, black).
It was only sold in the #670 ‘E’ Type Jaguar Pack in a small clear plastic
garage with a gray door and base.

7)  Vauxhall Victor Estate 1:87 metal wheeled station wagon: This small plastic
car with metal wheels was sold from 1963-65, likely in only 3 colors (red,
white, black).  It was only sold in #671 Vauxhall Victor Estate Pack in a small
clear plastic garage with a gray door and base.

8) Circle bottom 4x8 curved plates with “notches”.  These small plates with
notches at the curve (where they could attach to baseplates) were only produced
in Britain/Australia/Ireland from 1965-66, and likely only found in the #227
spare parts pack.

9) Solid yellow garage doors used for the #325 Shell Service Station.  In
continental Europe these were clear with yellow paint edging to the panels.  In
Britain, Ireland and Australia these garage doors were made of solid yellow
plastic.  These were sold from 1966-70, and only ever found in the #325 set.
