I wish to thank everyone for their support and comments.  It looks like • there
is enough interest and encouragement to proceed.

Preview of the kits are at
http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=5608.  The prototype • pictures
do not show the application of the stripe stickers.  They also include • detail
interiors, but no minifigs.

The third one (http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=56065) is
very similar to a car I built for my Black and White Metroliner clone.  My
version is on the left end of the train in this picture:

http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=50696

I used the Type 1 sliding door in mine (http://img.lugnet.com/ld/4511.gif).

However, I'm not encouraged at the pricing.  Buying the parts alone, from
Brickbay at the average selling price would run around $75-$80.  Other • 200+
piece kits from artistians would put it in the similar ballpark price of
$60-$80.  While I have not set prices, these are some guidelines and the • fact a
10001 has most of the parts to build two of the cars.

Stay tune for announcement of availablity and pricing.

I have four kits on the market (Carolina Train Builders -
http://www.nclug.net/ctb) and you are right on about pricing.  Because you
have to buy from the secondary market it will be tough to price cars like
your at a price point below $50.  Unless you can get 10001 and/or 10002 at
discount prices I think you'll find that you'll have to be in the $75 price
range to make it worth your while.

Mike
