I've created a pair of custom made crossovers from LEGO switches, one right
hand and one left hand. These aren't the "crossovers" that LEGO sells since
what they make is actually a 90 degree crossing. These crossovers let you
create a layout that maintains the LEGO track geometry with 8 studs between
tracks and yet allows trains to cross from one track to the other.
There are a few layout ideas shown on the auction page so you can see how
you can use these to create realistic LEGO train layouts.
