The long awaited Train Auction is here! This is an auction of Lego train sets
including many 9V items, many 4.5V items and many 12V items - over 60 lots in
all. Condition varies but most are good or excellent - see the set
descriptions before you bid for complete information. Many, many rare sets,
multiple copies of several items, plus multiple copies of items are available
separately for auction at www.seriouscollector.com, username mchiles, and at
www.ebay.com, username mchiles.
If you are planning on bidding, e-mail me to be put on the daily update
mailing list. There will be weekly updates to RTL, but in that time items can
easily go from "going 1" to "sold". Bids will begin advancing Tuesday,
February 21. Set pictures, daily updates and all the details are also

A word on condition in general - conditions marked are primarily based on the
condition of pieces and stickers, not counting track if included. Track
condition varies considerably within sets, as all track included with these
trains was originally combined in several large collections. Some track is
old and weathered and dusty, some is like new - just like a real railroad. :)

Auction rules:
Complete detailed rules, bidding advice, shipping instructions, etc. are on

This is an abbreviated version of the rules. The web page rules are official
- read them!
1. We need the full name, address and phone number of any bidder before we
can accept bids. Fraudulent bidders are unfair to us and especially to other
bidders.
2. Items valued under $100: Bid at least $1
Items valued between $101-$250: Bid at least $5
Items valued between $250-$500: Bid at least $10
Items valued over $500: Bid at least $25, US funds.
3. I will pay all postage in the US. Postage to other countries varies.
4. This will be a "Going 1", "Going 2", "Going 3", "Sold" auction. After 24
hours the status of a bid will be advanced. This means an item can go from
"Going 1" to "Sold" in 4 days. This makes for a quick auction.
5. Bids will generally be raised on every non-holiday weekday unless
otherwise noted. Bids will not be raised on weekends or holidays. Updates
will be based on bids received by 8:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (US), and will
usually be sent out by 10:00 PM. If anyone needs more time to bid on an item,
please let me know and that item will be marked "holding" until further notice.
6. Items can be removed from the auction for trade if a good trade comes
along. If you are interested in trading my current trade want list is at the
end of this post.
7. Items will usually be shipped within one week of receipt of payment.
8. Updates will normally be daily.
9. All used items are guaranteed to be as described. If a set fails to be as
described I will make it right or you can return the set for a full refund, at
my discretion. Please note that no electrical components have been tested!
New sets are not guaranteed except for box condition.
10. If your mailing address is in Washington State, you will need to pay 7%
sales tax on all of your winnings.
11. If we have forgotten anything, we will figure something out. :)

t01 2150 1996 g Retrostation $75
This fine modern knockoff of the Metrostation is built in red with grey trim
and white windows. The people are all modern with modern expressions, and
there is even a cop. The luggage vehicle is yellow, and goes well with the
other accessories. Too bad Lego doesn't build more nice sets like this, or
rebuild more older sets as this set did. Good condition pieces and
directions, stickers on packages missing, no box.
t02 4536 1991 e Hopper Car $30
This approx. 150 piece set builds a fine little blue hopper car. Like a real
hopper, it loads at the top and unloads at the bottom. It includes an
unloading bin and two colors of bulk cargo. Lots of cool pieces including
white fence gates, many blue slope pieces and reverse slope pieces, lots of
grey tiles and many other cool pieces. Excellent condition, no box.
t03 4537 1993 e Octan Twin Tank Transport *s $30
This set builds a train car with two LPG spheres and pumping equipment. It
also includes an Octan flatbed truck, a flat full of smaller gas drums, and an
Octan driver. And of course the train car is Octan. Excellent condition,
stickers not yet attached, no box.

This set builds a train car with two LPG spheres and pumping equipment. It

This was the first 9V crossing, and builds a simple manual crossing gate over
a roadway. It also builds a crossing guard tower on a pedestal, with a
crossing guard. Special pieces include the gates, signs and weights. New,
seal broken, box worn.

This set builds a very nice minifig scale front loader with backhoe. A small
dumping trailer attaches to the tractor, and there is a driver included. The
whole setup can be transported anywhere on the included long flatbed train car
with folding side gates. Excellent condition, no box.

This newer set builds a black and yellow flatbed train car designed to take

t12 4549 1993 g Road n Rail Hauler $100
Have you ever wanted one of those double-decker train container cars? This is
it! This long grey train car has a sunken center in which two 4x16 containers
can be stacked on top of each other, plus on each end of the car there is room
for a 4x8 container. 4 containers are included - a 4x8 Octan container, a 4x8
Train System container, a 4x12 yellow Lego container and a 4x12 blue world
transport container. A red and white semi truck with a long red trailer and
driver is also included, along with a large red and white crane vehicle and
driver to move the containers around. Good condition, some light yellowing,
no box.
t13 4554 1991 g Metrostation $100
Everyone has seen this beautiful 564 piece architectural wonder! Many of you
have one already. If you have one, you need two so you can line them up back
to back for a full station! Or to have another place to stop your trains!
And if you don't have one yet you are missing out! Includes 4 pieces of dock
for loading, a baggage wagon with two cars, 2 new style streetlights, 8
classic smiley mini-figs, many other great accessories and best of all a huge,
well built two story train station that is a real pleasure to construct and
admire. Good condition, missing sticker on suitcase, lounge sticker, phone
sticker, sticker on sign is damaged and directions hole punched, no box.

The Metroliner, as everyone knows, is the best passenger train Lego has ever
produced! It is a grey train with red, white and blue stripe and has 768
pieces including 3 cars, a loading platform, lamp posts, 11 classic smiley
mini-figs, an oval of track and a ton of speed - what more can I say?
Excellent condition, no box.

t16 4564 1994 e Freight Rail Runner $150
This awesome cargo train is the train that first got me interested in Lego
trains. It starts with a large realistic yellow diesel engine, and then comes
with a grey flatbed car, a blue mail boxcar and a red hopper car. Each train
car has special functions. The mail car and the hopper car can each unload
their goods into 4x8 open bins which can be loaded onto a truck included, and
then from the truck loaded or unloaded onto the flatbed car. The set comes
with three minifigures and an oval of track and a speed regulator and
transformer. Excellent condition but missing stickers on packages. This set
comes with a European 220V transformer. A North American 110V transformer can
be purchased from Shop at Home. No box.
t17 7710 1980 g Blue & Yellow Push Train $75
This neat old set builds a black steam engine and two passenger cars. The
passenger cars are yellow and blue, with blue windows and yellow and blue
train doors. The set includes two engineers and 5 passengers, plus an oval of
track and a loading platform. This is a push train as designed, but is easily
converted to 9V or even 12V or 4.5V. Pieces in good condition, directions
worn with hole punches, no box.
t18 7715 1985 g Push Along Train $75
This really cool little steam train serves the smaller villages around the big
city. The engine is black with red trim. Two red and blue passenger train
cars are included, along with three passengers, two railroad workers, a
loading platform and a circle of 4.5V track. Excellent condition pieces and
directions, box in very good condition.
t19 7720 1980 f 4.5V Battery Freight Train Set $100
This 406 piece set builds a red diesel switching engine and 4 train cars: a
blue battery wagon with stickers to make it look like a boxcar, a flatbed car
and a caboose of sorts with a small room and a large bulk storage bin.
Accessories include a loading ramp, a small front end loader, an oval of 4.5V
track, a switch signal, a reverser pole and a level crossing for driving over
the tracks! Also three minifigures. Fair Condition - pieces good except
missing 4 bumpers on battery tender car, about 1/2 of stickers are missing.
Directions cover is torn off with all of back page and left 1/3 of front page
missing completely. Box in fair condition very worn with the 4.5V train
symbol cut from the cover and other damage on side of box.
t20 7722 1986 e 4.5V Battery Train Set *e $100
This 475 piece set builds a fine black and red steam locomotive which hauls
three train cars - a red battery tender, a flatbed car which carries shell
colored fuel barrels, and a red and yellow mail car. The Mail Car has sliding
doors and regular doors, and features a mail sorting table in addition to the
package storage area. Accessories include a blue forklift with trailer, a
small loading platform, a signal switch, and end of track reverse switch and
an oval of 4.5V track. 3 minifigures. Excellent condition with pieces, box
and directions.

This 475 piece set builds a fine black and red steam locomotive which hauls

t22 7725 1981 g 12V Red Trolley Train $150
This really cool red train is very similar to actual train that service small
towns and suburban areas in Europe. It is a double ended three car train.
The first car is all engine and a cab. The middle car seats 4 passengers and
has center doors. The end car seats 3 more passengers and has another
engineer's cab. The set comes with a 12V motor and an oval of 12V track.
The set includes only a driver, you have to supply your own passengers and
loading platforms. Pieces in good condition, directions hole punched, no box.
t23 7727 1983 e 12V Steam Cargo Train $150
This rare find from Europe builds a 12V black steam engine with a red
underbelly and wheels. The train hauls 3 cars loaded with small shipping
containers. The first two cars are basic flatbeds, and have cargo of a
container, raw lumber, a small vehicle, and barrels of oil. The last car is a
red boxcar with 2 sets sliding doors. It is a refrigerator car and is where
the milk is kept. A forklift is also include for handling the cargo at all
the small towns this train serves. Excellent condition, directions hole
punched, no box.
t24 7735 1985 e 12V Cargo Train $150
This 12V train starts with a sturdy little red and yellow engine. Behind that
are two flat bed cars of similar design. The first one has a shell gas tank
built in to one end of it, and the other end can hold a little fuel truck that
is included. The second car holds two motorcycles which are included. The
last car is a yellow mail van with sliding doors on one end and people doors
on the other. It makes a pretty good caboose. The set includes an oval of
track and a loading platform. The two flat bed train cars have side gates
that lower down for easy unloading onto the platform. Excellent condition, no
box.

car. The other end has a lounge/dining area behind it's control cab. The
train has a powerful 12V motor underneath and has lights in each end.
Features include a long oval of 12V track (6 straight sections and 16 curve
sections), a loading platform with large light posts and a variety of
passengers and crew. This set is every bit as fine as the Metroliner, just a
little bit more primitive. (The 12V motor is readily exchangeable for a 9V -
even the center wheel of the motor can be switched.) Excellent condition, no
box.

This set builds a large red switching engine. From the center cab a driver
can easily look both ways while maneuvering around a yard. It comes with a
driver and a 12V electric engine. Pieces good condition, missing one sticker
on door, directions not original but high quality color photocopies.
t29 7777 1980 g Train Idea Book $50
This idea book rocks! It is a total of 84 pages and includes ideas for a
handcar. You build this first and then follow the adventures of Handcar Man
through the book, just like Bill & Mary! You will get great ideas for
maintenance vehicles, bulk cargo loading/unloading places, container yards and
cranes, auto transport wagon, many engines (diesel, electric and steam),
maintenance yards, lighting and electricity, passenger stations, bridges and
structures, track layouts, a circus train (you will need your Bill & Mary book
stickers), and a very cool engine overhaul yard/factory. The book ends with a
futuristic rocket powered car! This brings your town, train and technic
pieces all together for a beautiful union. Good condition, some wear, nothing
bad.
t30 7813 1986 e Oil Tanker Rail Car (Shell) $40
This great little set builds a nice small Shell tank car. The car has three
white, red and yellow tanks built on it, plus hoses and such for transferring
fuel elsewhere. It comes with a Shell minifigure. Excellent condition pieces
and directions, box in very good condition.

This great little set builds a nice small Shell tank car. The car has three
white, red and yellow tanks built on it, plus hoses and such for transferring
fuel elsewhere. It comes with a Shell minifigure. Fair condition - pieces
yellowed, center pins holding wheels on have been replaced with red instead of
original black. Directions good, no box.

This set builds a long utility car with a yellow crane on one end. It is
perfect for track side maintenance or even building new lines. It comes with
two minifigures and a wrench. Excellent condition, no box.

t34 7816 1980 e Shell Tank Car $40
This old set builds a single large-tank tanker car. A ladder makes it easy
for the included shell working to reach the top of the tank for filling. The
wheels of the train car are red. Excellent condition pieces, directions and
stickers. Comes pre-built to avoid sticker damage. No box.

Shell stickers included do not appear to have come with this set originally,

t36 7817 1985 e Crane Wagon Car $40
This set builds a large flat train car with a crane built in the middle.
There are storage areas with oil barrels on either end of the car, and there
are supports which swing out from the sides to steady the car. It looks like
it is designed to move freight in to a railroad construction site. Excellent
condition with pieces, box and directions.
t37 7817 1987 g Crane Wagon Car $40
This set builds a large flat train car with a crane built in the middle.
There are storage areas with oil barrels on either end of the car, and there
are supports which swing out from the sides to steady the car. It looks like
it is designed to move freight in to a railroad construction site. Good
condition except wheel set assemblies are glued together. Directions good, no
box.
t38 7819 1983 g Mail Van $50
This was the second modern mail wagon, and was designed to fit beautifully
with the 7740 train. It is long with a red bottom and yellow top. It
features regular doors on one end, and large sliding doors on the other end.
A pallet of mail is included, along with a postman and desk for sorting. Good
condition, missing one sticker, color prints of scans instead of original
directions, no box.
t39 7820 1980 g Mail Wagon *c $50
This set builds a long red specialized box car. Big doors on the sides swing
out to let mail containers in. A mail sorting table is manned by a sorter on
the inside. One end of the car has passenger seating, so that this car can be
added to any train. Good condition, missing some stickers. Directions are
color print's of scans, not original. No box.
t40 7821 1983 e Service Wagon *c $50
This set is designed to build a black train car with an elevated work platform
which swings out to service overhead lamps. Excellent condition, no box.
t41 7822 1980 e Train Station $75
This was the first modern train station. It builds a red station with a grey
roof on a grey platform. It is a small, suburban type of station. There are
two platforms, one on either side of the track, connected by an overhead
walkway and by paths across the tracks. The includes 11 grey 6x24 plates!
Excellent condition, no box.
t42 7822 1980 g Train Station $75
This was the first modern train station. It builds a red station with a grey
roof on a grey platform. It is a small, suburban type of station. There are
two platforms, one on either side of the track, connected by an overhead
walkway and by paths across the tracks. The includes 11 grey 6x24 plates!
Directions in poor condition with frayed edges, multiple hole punches and
other holes and tears. Pieces in good condition, some damage to clock
sticker, no box.
t43 7823 1987 e Container Crane $75
This approx. 300 piece set builds a large grey overhead crane which rides it's
own set of tracks along the railway. The actual red crane unit moves back
and forth in the grey frame, and can hoist shipping containers from an
included flatcar and move them over the road for placement on an included
truck. Features include two sections of straight 12V track, a black flatbed

cowboy, 3 women, a cook, several workers and two of the old style train lamp
posts. This is a trim station that is reminiscent of a suburban, modern
European metro system above ground station. And it includes 4 sections of

then take the cargo and put it back in the train car! This set has tons of
sliding door rails in grey and black (6 black, 12 grey), so it will keep you

special 12V rail pieces and a lighting signal. It can be installed on your
12V train layout so that when the red button is pushed, the light will be red
and the train will stop. When the green button is pushed the light will turn
green and the train will go. This way you can easily control multiple trains
on the same layout! Wouldn't it be nice to have 9V toys like this? :) It
