To me, another factor (besides the ones mentioned) in the equation is
whether the person buying the set is purchasing it to play uh I mean build
with or whether they want it to put on the shelf MISB and simply bask in the
warm glow of possession. Along those same lines would be those who make a
purchase as an investment with the intent of re-selling it in the future. To
them the MISB condition has a higher intrinsic value.
Since I'm a fan(atic) who purchases with every intent of eventually building
with the sets, I'm personally not willing to pay that much more for a MISB
set than I would for a guaranteed, complete set that's been opened. So for
me the tolerable percentage variance would be fairly low, probably be in the
range of 15-25%.
Having stated that though I would add that if I can get MISB at a reasonable
price than I prefer it over Opened just because of the added sense of
security that I am getting everything complete and in good condition.

| Another big factor will be the age of the set. If I'm buying a set that's 3 or 4 years old I'm not going to care very much if it's in MISB. On the other hand I'd pay a _lot_ for MISB for just about any set from the 1970s, because I know that would (...) (23 years ago, 4-May-01, to lugnet.market.appraisal)

| (...) Yes, that makes sense - opening the set to build it instead of keeping it unopened as an investment is a very important distinction.
