Hello all,
On Saturday, April 13, the Houston AFOL community will be holding a local
meeting at the Texas A&M Health Science Center Institute for Biosciences and
Technology (also known as IBT) in Houston, Texas.
IBT is located in the Texas Medical Center at the corner of Holcombe Blvd
and Shamrock St. The address is 2121 W. Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030.
The meeting will be held from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on the 11th floor of IBT.
Pay parking is available across the street in TMC Garage 8 (fee will be $9 for
the day, with no in-out). Free or reduced rate parking is available in other
lots in the area (about 1/4 - 1/2 mile) or on local streets (also about the
same distance away).
For people unfamiliar with getting to the TMC, the simplest ways to get to
IBT are
From the south:
Take 288 North to the Holcombe exit, turn west onto Holcombe and continue
on until you cross Main Street. The next road on your left (just past the
Burger King) will be Shamrock. Turn left onto Shamrock and immediately right
into TMC Garrage 8. IBT is the 11-story building just across the street from
the garage.
From the south 610 loop:
Take the Main Street exit, go north on Main Street until you come to the
Shamrock/Galen intersection (Shriner's Hosptial will be on the NE corner of the
intersection) and turn left onto Shamrock. Follow the road around to the right
and turn left into Garage 8 just before the intersction with Holcombe.
From the north:
Either come in on 288 south and exit at Holcombe or follow 610 around and
get off at Main Street. Follow the appropriate directions above.
From the east:
South 610 Loop is probably the easiest way.
From the west:
Either take South 610 Loop or follow Bellaire east until it becomes
Holcombe. Keep following until you reach the Shamrock intersection (one block
west of Main Street) and turn right. Immediately turn right into Garage 8.
IBT is across the street.
