TexLUG Spring 2004 Meeting:

DATE: March 27-28, 2004
LOCATION: Northwest Vista College, San Antonio, Texas
PICS: http://www.texlug.org/mar04
http://news.lugnet.com/org/us/texlug/?n=446
ACTIVITIES:
• We set up a large train layout (with double train loops through
town/western/castle scenes)
• We set up monorail track (with station) through about 1/3 of the layout
• MOC display table
• General visiting and festing amongst TexLUG members
• Building! (of course)
• Had 5+ hours of public viewing time (100's of people showed up)
• Trading and buying parts-n-sets
• Eating, drinking, and having a fine time together!
• Chris gave two TV interviews, plus a newspaper reporter/photographer (Kim)
interviewed the group

That was an excellent meeting! I really enjoyed all of it. Thanks to:
- Chris (the meeting organizer and host) of the TexLUG San Antonio chapter
- All other San Antonio chapter members for their behind-the-scenes help
- All TexLUG members! (Chris, Pat, Mark, Travis, Anthony, Christina, Tim, Laura,
Ed, Lee, Tanya, and me :-)

Everyone showed great enthusiasm and provided creations to make one of our
largest and highest quality displays yet. The event was filled with energy and I
think everyone really enjoyed it. Judging from the pictures, the public really
enjoyed it too.

I know most of our time and efforts were directed towards the public display
hours, and we didn't get to have any contests or a lot of members-only
"quality-time". However, I think we all got a lot of satisfaction out of
displaying our work to the public and getting to interact with them.

Of course hanging out at Chris' house was a blast. We grilled some meat and made
hamburgers, then ate until our sides split open. Then the 2x3 brick cake was
brought out, along with brownies and cookies. Man, I'm still full! Then we all
got to see the event on the evening news!!!

It will be hard to top this one, but I'm looking forward to the big fall
meeting. See y'all then!

p.s. Many thanks to LEGO for providing us the event kit. It really added a lot
to our display and the kids (plus their parents) enjoyed it- particularly
building with the loose parts.
