Hi fellow shopper. Actually we've probably never crossed territories. All I know
is Queens really. Hey, check out lugnet.org.us.gardenslug and come to our 2nd
meeting (whenever that is.)
The 2 Target stores this side of NJ are in College Point and Westbury. I think
there is a 3rd in Farmingdale. They might have the Mos Espa valuepack.
College Point is a good Target (I was last there in July for some clearance
items.) The College Point store is easy to get to by car. Drive north and pick
up 678 to Whitestone, take the exit for 20 Avenue which is almost all the way to
the bridge. Turn left at the light with the other cars that tried to cut you
off, and proceed to Giuliani's legacy to Queens: giant parking lots in a former
light industrial district. See frenzied Queens shoppers amazed at being able to
live like the rest of the country, shopping warehouse and discount style. It's
not so bad if you get there before lunchtime.
No doubt you'll have noticed the looming TRU off 678. You can easily hit that on
your way out of Target, because the frontage road along the Target side of 678
takes you into TRU.
Other spots in Queens. By Q48? bus or the R train to Broadway: TRU in Woodside
(Northern Blvd near 48th) is just another re-orged TRU these days but I used to
hit it frequently. It too now has the Big Box frenzied crowd--don't drive there.
There are 2 TRUs accessible on the Metropolitan Av bus (Q54 or Q56?) The TRU in
Jamaica is sometimes a gold mine because Lego does not sell well there. I try to
make it there every so often to tidy the shelves (just doing my bit.) The TRU in
the middle of our island, I have never been to though it's on that bus route on
the way to Metrotech.
The KB in Queens Center Mall is not worth your trouble. It's a shame how they
treat Lego there: sets get piled up on the carpet, trampled, kicked... then
these hang around for months after KB has sold the saleable sets. KB doesn't
restock, it seems, except twice a year, so it gives the impression that they are
always trying to discontinue Lego. Occasionally there has been an opal, like a
rare squashed Pirate set (no it's not there anymore.)
Now maybe I will venture over to your area... Hmm...

| I'm just wondering what the more popular shopping venues for lego are in the area. Personally, I like the Ceasar's Bay TRU 'cos it's slightly cheaper than the Albee Sq. Mall location. I haven't been out to the Marine Park TRU in ages, how do they (...) (24 years ago, 11-Aug-00, to lugnet.loc.us.ny)
