I live just south of Fenton. However, I drive all over town, so I am pretty
familiar with just about the entire area. (One advantage for working for a
utility, I guess) Something on 270 inbetween Manchester and Page would be
centrally located, but I'm flexible. It really dosn't matter to me, to be
honest. I get used to driving, unfortunately.
I've worked on a couple of different designs, trying to avoid eating up a
absolute ton of bricks. The last design I tried was 20 bricks tall. The
supports were 4x4 collumns, made out of 1x4 and 1x2 bricks, with a hollow
inside. These were based on a 32 stud center (small square mini-baseplate).
The only problem with this was in the centers of where the collumns were there
was a structual 'weak' area that was pretty easy to break thru, and I am not
sure if it would have held up to the rigors of travel. I was thinking of
putting a smaller collumn at that part, made out of 1x2's (arranged into a 3x3
collumn with a hollow center), or something similar. Once it all is together,
it is remarkable strong, but yet dosn't consume near the bricks that the other
layout types do. 50 buckets per module is just obscene, if you ask me.
As far as number of modules go, I should be good for a decent amount.
However, I am going to need to put off any major purchases until we close on
the house and get moved in, and see how the financial situation plays out. I
am sure for every dollar I am planning on spending on it, I will wind up
spending 5. That is the main reason why I had to mostly pass on the last TRU
bucket sale. I would have loved to pick up a lot more than I did.
To John or whomever else might be lurking, just speak up. I'm flexible on
where we go to meet, I really have no preferences.
