This is the first official announcement of NELUG's participation at Mindfest.
We plan on contributing in a number of ways...
1. Many of us are volunteering to help out any way we can. This includes
helping out in the "Construction Zone", monitoring the display area, and
helping out when necessary with workshops and discussion groups.
2. We are going to have a casual greeting event for all Mindfest participants
on Saturday 10/23 tentatively scheduled for 7pm after everyone finishes up
with the events of the day. This is going to be primarily a casual event for
people to come and talk shop and meet NELUG and other Mindfest participants.
We will probably have models on display (Both Robotic and General) and
possibly a display screen to show off some of our .dat files and other
pictures.
3. We will also help out with setup and breakdown where needed.
4. We will have a NELUG display where we will have handouts, sign-up sheets,
and models on display (Again both Robotic and General).
So if you are comming to Mindfest at MIT please stop by our NELUG displays and
say hello we have members that are both Robotics enthusiasts and General Model
enthusiasts so we will have a wide variety of people there for you to talk to.
Some of what we talked about on 9/28 follows. (This meeting was held at MIT).
One of the primary things we need to work on between now and the event is
creating some handouts. Among the contents of these handouts are the
following...
1. Web Address and contect information for all of the Regionalized Groups in
order to help raise awareness of these groups which include www.baylug.org ,
www.gmlug.org , www.pnltc.org , www.gmltc.org , NovaLTC , etc. Either myself
or one of our members will be contacting represetatives of each of these
organizations to make sure this is OK and to see if there is anything they
would like us to say about them. We may even have each group create a handout
if they want and we will hand them out.
2. A NELUG handout just explaining what NELUG is all about and include a sign-
up sheet.
3. Possibly some sort of press release seeing that there will be members of
the press attending the event.
We also discussed having models available for display. Our primary reason for
being at Mindfest is to help out in any way possible however and for that
reason we are trying to remain as flexible as possible and try and not do too
much that requires alot of maintenance on our part.
Anyone that has any input for these handouts or if you would like your
organization included and don't want to wait for one of us to contact you
please feel free to contact me and we will talk about it.
I am sure I must have missed something so if I have please post responses to
this message to let everyone know.
Thanks for your time,
Eric Kingsley
