In general, the answer is that people move them. That is, they set
followups to point elsewhere. Just in the last week I have set followups
to point to .debate, to .fun, to .pun, and to one of the admin groups.
This is a good thing to do when you are pretty sure that the character
of a thread has changed. But if you're wrong, you can get people annoyed
if you do it.
I'm never wrong so I don't have that problem. Just ask anyone. They'll
tell you.

PS, if I were looking for a hotel to model and I didn't have as many
bricks as I do, I'd choose one in Ashland KY rather than Lexington,
because the one in Ashland KY would likely take less bricks, being less
than 4 stories tall. :-)
