FYI, the admins know about it, and the needed changes have already been
made to get the site back again, but the propogation of the changes may take
another day or two. :-(

If you are interested in the longer story, read on. Otherwise, go look for
a more interesting article somewhere else. ;-)

During the last month, a few things conspired, each threatening to take
the site off-line for a period of time...

  1) The machine needed to move to a new hosting facility.
1a) The site we picked required us to install a new (rack-mount) server,
and the new hardware caused us to upgrade some of the software involved on
the server.
1b) The new site required us to change IP addresses on all of the server
records for that machine (30+ domains, including ours)
1c) The registrar for the primary domain was shifting it's users to a new
processes for changing info, which delayed changes for a few days (so all of
the other domains needed to wait for the first change to propogate...)
  2) I left my job (and the machine had been hosted at my old company), so
they removed the DNS records for all of the domains sharing our server,
taking most of the domains off-line Sunday evening.
2a) Many of the domain owners are currently suffering the same
registrar-process-changes, so they were unable to update their domain
records with the new info.
2b) The old machine owner had been added to many of the domains when they
were moved to the server, so he spent most of Monday working with the
InterNIC folks to get most of the records changed.
2c) The main InterNIC root-server records were changed this morning at 9a
(PT), but may still take up to 48 hours for various proxy servers and
downstream caches to expire the old records and ask for the new info.
2d) Mail to some of the domains on the machine will also be off-line until
the caches time out and update. :-(

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
