Tired of playing by yourself?
An informal Robot-Arena competition will be held in the Los Angeles
Area
on Saturday April 17th 1999. This will be a...er...slightly
destructive
Lego(TM) on Lego(TM)smashing/shoving/grappling/whatever competition
using
autonomous Mindstorms RCX based robots.
Who: Anyone and your robot.
When: Saturday April 17th 1999
Where: Final location to be determined, but it will probably be in
Huntington Beach (Trying to secure a Junior Highschool Gym
floor
space or something... :)
Rules: Nate's rules as described on the Robot Arena web site at the
URL: http://www.azimuthmedia.com/RobotArena/
Format: Probably round robin unless there are too many entries to do
this in a reasonable time. In that case, it will be single
or
double elimination.
The Prize?
Come on, you get to show off your RCX building/programming
prowess, do you need more?
Glory. The RESPECT of your peers. If the response is good,
I'll chip in some Toys-R-US(TM) gift certificates I have
lying around....
Nate had kindly offered to have me post announcements and rosters on
his Web Site at http://www.azimuthmedia.com/RobotArena/
(His competition is this March in San Jose!)
Please check there for final details/location/times/goodies and to
see who/what has signed up.
Please direct all future posts about this event to:
lugnet.robotics.events.robot-arena
to avoid flooding those accesing the general robotics group via
e-mail.
Please contact me at: dcchen@pacbell.net with any other inquiries.
Anyone willing to help out with the final organization and stuff
PLEASE e-mail me. I'm not sure what I'm getting into here but it
could
be
pretty interesting.
Disclamer and other rubbish:
Not responsible for damage to or loss of Lego(TM) parts, RCX(TM)
unit, hurt pride, giddy childlike behavior, injuries to bare feet
from
stepping on small parts, etc. You get the idea.
TM's are the property of respective owners like TLG and whoever else
legally owns them. This is NOT an officially sanctioned or endorsed
LEGO(TM) or TLG(TM) event, blah, blah, blah :)
