If the Carlsbad traffic becomes too heavy for people who only want to talk
about San Diego stuff (I doubt it, but if) it is certainly very easy to
create a lugnet.loc.us.ca.sd.car sub-group for Carlsbad specifically.
Anything is possible. :)

Heck, you can just this newsgroup (lugnet.loc.us.ca.sd -- there's more than enough room in it :) and then you get automatic archiving (useful since March is several months away) and broader participation than a pure mailing list. It's also (...) (26 years ago, 22-Nov-98, to lugnet.loc.us.ca.sd)
