A reporter with The Orange County Register (a "fairly big daily" in Southern
California) is writing a story about adult LEGO collectors.  He's looking
(I presume to interview and/or visit it) for a couple people in Orange County,
California.  Not sure if this this is out-of-date or if he is still looking.

I get the Register.  It is a fairly big daily--bigger, locally, than the LA
Times, at any rate.  It's a Hyper-Libertarian publication, of the
privatize-the-sidewalks variety.  The article appared about a week ago, in the
Accent section next to the comics. It wasn't bad; they profiled two AFOLs and
an enthusiast family, in quite positive terms.  They made much of LEGO's
nostalgic significance to gen-Xers and also suggested that it was destined to
become a major new collectible.  Bland article, but the pictures were
interesting.  One was of a space communications array, built on top of
quarter-domes surrounded by a train track topped by a dish made of about two
dozen brick separators, which I though was novel.

By the way, a local Longs drugstore here has been selling small sets that I've
never seen before.  One is a miniscule Technic motorbike, and there are also
Adventurers and Launch (or Spaceport or whatever that theme is called) sets.
The only one I've identified is a Kabaya Ninja set, the one with the Ninja
pricess in white with a Halberd-cart. Unusual.
