BrickFest attendees will witness the on-site assembly of a 21 panel LEGO mosaic
featuring the image of the Capitol Building. In the tradition of the team
building challenges at BrickFest and other AFOL events, BrickFest 2004 is no
exception. I'm pleased to invite all registered attendees of BrickFest to
participate in this project.

Here are the details:

We are creating a mosaic that will fill 21 large grey 48x48 baseplates, with
over 48,000 pieces! This mosaic consists of seven shades of gray --includuing
both the old and new grays --

We are building 5 of 21 baseplates on site at BrickFest. We’ll have 5 two-person
teams competing against each other to see who can build their panel in the
shortest amount of time. This competition is tentatively scheduled for early
Friday, so sign up early!

The other 16 baseplates will be built prior to the event; and you can get
involved with that too! We’ll be mailing out all of the required plates and
instructions to volunteers within a few weeks. So if you want to try your hand
at mosaic building without spending any money, or you want to warm-up for the
competition send an email to info@brickfest.com and let us know what you’re
interested.

A picture of the image has been added to the Community Projects Page,
http://dc.brickfest.com/projects.php  The US Capitol building was selected for
both the Convention Model and the Mosaic theme.    More info will be posted
about the Convention Model within the next couple of days.

The fine print:
Due to the limited number of panels only 16 panels are available for pre build.

*Criteria for those interested in completing a panel prior to BrickFest.
- Must be fully registered to attend BrickFest 2004.
- Must live in the continental United States
- Participants will be expected to provide the 48x48 gray baseplate. A brand new
replacement will be given to you at BrickFest in exchange for the completed
panel (this reduces cost of shipping).
- Please provide a shipping address (No P.O. Boxes)

Deadline for requests is July 1.

Preference for the onsite Mosaic Competition will be given to international
participants due to the pre build limitations. (our inability to ship the mosaic
out of the continental US).
