Hiya
Because of the temporary closure of the Lego World Shop, I called Lego
customer service today to ask how to get extra sensors etc for Mindstorms in
the UK. There appears to be good news on this front!
Lego UK have got hold of limited numbers of sensors and stuff from Lego
World Shop, as follows:
Touch sensor £12
Light sensor £16
RCX remote control £17
These items are available to order direct from Lego customer services (08457
080070)
They don't have the following sensors, but are hoping to get hold of some
soon:
Rotation sensor £14
Temperature sensor £20
The 1.0->1.5 upgrade kit will be available hopefully early February, priced
£20
In March, a spares pack called 'ultimate accessory pack' will be available -
the person I spoke to didn't have exact details but said it would include
the remote control and a selection of sensors. He said this probably won't
be available through many toy shops, but places like Maplins
would have it available by mail order. Incidentally those people who have
been asking recently about storing large amounts of Lego should have a look
through the storage section of the Maplins catalogue (available from
WHSmith) - there are some huge storage thingies in there that should be
ideal
Apparently the Exploration Mars pack will also be available in March! No
price yet.
I also asked about the speed computer gadget which has been advertised in
some of the new Technic sets (Speed Slammers etc) : apparently the UK is
going to be the first place in Europe to have this and it will be available
direct from Lego from 28th January! It won't be appearing in the shops until
about June. Again, no price yet.
