Due to the proximity and age of my neighbors, I generally have to listen to
music through headphones nowadays (which is annoying when you are
building... I generally pop movies in the vcr)

Ugh!  I rent, and if we had anyone living beside us, they can complain about
the paper walls (I live in a 1950's US built rowhouse right now...it's kind of
-thin- on the insulation...)

I used to listen to hip-hop (i.e. Tribe Called Quest, KRS-1, Wu-tang) or an
"alternative" variety including Nine Inch Nails, Ministry, New Order,
Depeche Mode, The Cult, Cure, etc.
(sometimes the "less than soothing" backround music takes my mnd in new
directions)

All good!.  I have some Cure around here too, and at least know who the rest
are :)

James has some great groups/artists listed below...

Hmm...although not a spacehead, I think I will add my listening prefs to • this:

On right now..Spirit Of The West, ("Lets Make a Mystery", from "Go Figure")

Spirit of the West would distract me from building...I wouldn't want the
rattle of the bricks to drown the sound...lol

I saw them (again) this summer.  Took 6 hrs driving, but we saw them at "The
Kee" (in Bala, Ont).

The changer is filled with: 35 Sarah Mclachlan disks, 6 SotW disks, 22 U2
disks, 6 Indigo Girls disks, 5 Tracy Chapman, 7 Skydiggers disks, 5 The Box
disks, 2 James disks, 7 Northern Pikes disks (plus a couple of other odd • disks,
like Bells for Her (a Tori Amos bootleg)).  Generally, I use the changer to
listen to music.  I have about another 125 disks loose (in a shelf) but the
changer is easier to use.

Man I haven't heard Northern Pikes for years...

2 new albums out right now, and a 3rd on the way.  (greatest hits, Live--a very
good album, and a new album is being made right now.  Go to www.maplemusic.com
to order them)

What ? no 54' - 40? Lowest of the Low? Blue Rodeo?

Nope.  Total of my 54-40 is 0 songs, no Lowest of the Low, and only a little
bit of Blue Rodeo (one whole track, plus Greg Kellor on Pine Ridge)...We went
and saw them last year when they played here.  (I'm not going to see the 'hip,
because I don't think they need encouragement to come play here...the first gig
sold out in like 2 hrs)

Reading all those band names makes me miss Buffalo NY radio (we could get
Canadian Radio stations that played great canadian bands)
Looks ike I'll have to junk the 5 disc anf get a hundred disk someday = )

Na, 5 disk would probably work better than the 100 disk changer.  I like the
changer because I have a bunch of CDR stuff that I don't like handling much
(bootlegs, and don't tell me if you don't like them...its a personal thing...)

My stereo is a bit weird like that, I have 1 tape deck, the CD changer, a
diskman and the putr hoocked up to it, as well as having a live wire to plug my
guitar amp into if I am up here with it and want to play at recording stuff.

I used to see Ani Defranco in little Buffalo dive Bars in the late 80's ...
I haven't kept up with alot of her recent stuff (she's out there sometimes)

Oh ya.  She releases 2-3 albums/year, remarkably prolific.  Esp, when you
consider that her bassist (Sarah Lee) also tours/plays with Indigo Girls.

Heck, I may have to trade Lego for Canadian Music cds
in the future...

as above, www.maplemusic.com is a _great_ source for Cdn. music.

James
