the 6th Annual Lego Robotics Event: Fear of a Bot Planet
Preliminary Announcement
Date: September 16th, 2000 (Tentative)
Location: TBA
Hi. It's been a few weeks after the May 28th Lego Event and as promised,
we're planning another one, complete with a new competition: Block
Stacking. This will very likely be on Saturday, September 16th, 2000.
Though the location hasn't been finalized (most likely on U of T campus
though), this email is to give you a heads up on the date, and to get you
started on building a robot. Final info will be mailed again closer in.
Of course...visit the rtlToronto webpage: It's full of cool links, photos
and has a brand new look. It also contains all the rules for the
event: http://peach.mie.utoronto.ca/events/lego/ It will be updated as
changes and more information is made available.
The new event...is Blockstacking. Two robots get on the field and collect
blocks. I know this sounds familiar-BUT-the robots then have to stack the
blocks into a tower. Sound like fun? Get building! This is a slightly
more difficult game than before.
Also returning is...Robot Sumo! Everyone had a lot of fun with sumo
robots-we'll be also running sumo matches again in September. This is
slightly easier and may be an ideal way to get into Lego robotics
competition. Either way, build a blockstacker or a sumobot!
As always...this event is not sponsored by the Lego Group, the University
of Toronto, or anyone with any amount of money. It is simply three guys
and their desire to promote Lego as a fun way to relax and have a good
time. Please contact us if you have any questions!
