Hello all,

A long while back, I was talking to an AFOL about mosaics and he said he had wanted to create one in transparent bricks. I thought, “gee that would be cool”, but I don’t own *that* many trans bricks.

Then magically, I ended up with a pile of Trans pink 1 x 2, I got to thinking about creating a stained window to use them up. So I pinched his idea and ran with it.

Well apparently I got addicted, and that one panel (the Iris) has become a 6 panelled window (although eventually when *truly* completed it will be 15 panels). The representation of the provincial flowers are simple due to limitation in size and brick selection, yet the effect is fairly convincing.

The first two panels (Iris & Pansy) were displayed at BrickFest DC 2004, and these 6 panels will be displayed at the Toronto Hobby Show 2004. Over time, I am sure the panels will be reworked to some degree, and eventually I will post all 15 panels, but until then, I thought I would share my progress. Closer look on my site, or my BS folder.

Cheers,

Janey “Red Brick”

(...) Wow! I saw the two at Brickfest, but all of them together (thus far) is such a spectacular view! And to know that they're the Provincial flowers on top--that's just pure-D-icing on the cake. Nicely done! Dave K (20 years ago, 28-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

"Clear"ly magnificent! Now people know why folks like us love transparent bricks so much. :-) Bravo! Hey... what's in a "BS folder"? :-P (20 years ago, 29-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

(...) Hi Janey, Very nice! If I had so many trans bricks, I would make a mosaic large enough to fit inside my window, just to let the sun shine through it! It's nice looking at your MOC for inspiration... Nelson (20 years ago, 29-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

(...) Wow, very nice. I loved the two panes you had at BF2004, it just keeps getting better. Not sure what a Provincial flower is though, guess I'll have to Google it later :) jt (20 years ago, 29-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

(...) I had no idea Janey did windows. But then I wouldn't spread it around either. -Tom McD. (URL) (20 years ago, 30-Oct-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic, FTX)

Hi Janey, I was so impressed by your work (ALL YOUR MOCs blew me away!) at BrickFest 2004 in DC that I had to copy the idea of the stained glass windows! Since I'm more a brick technician than artist (like you!) mine is a bit more graphic than (...) (20 years ago, 18-Dec-04, to lugnet.build.mosaic)
