Although the message below doesn't specifically mention Lego robotics,
if you look on http://www.csee.uq.edu.au/~robocup/junior/ you will see
it is a Lego robotics competition for high school and upper primary
school. It's free admission to the public, if you want to go along.
YOU'RE INVITED!
On Sunday, August 26 the School of Computer Science & Electrical
Engineering
is hosting the most exciting and challenging junior robotics competition
ever held in Queensland -
The RoboCup Junior Queensland Competition 2001 The Competition will be
held
in Mayne Hall starting from approximately 1pm and finishing in the
evening.
CSEE would like to invite EPSA staff, family and friends to come along
to
the inaugural Competition.
There will be forty teams from twenty-five schools competing in three
categories - RoboDance, RoboRescue and RoboSoccer.
For months now, primary and high school students, coming from as far
north
as Cairns, have been attending workshops in the Robotics Laboratory
where a
robotics resource centre has been specially set up to enable Queensland
schools to take part in the Competition. Forty teams from twenty-five
schools, will be competing on the day. This will be a major event in
Queensland's and UQ's school calendar for 2001.
Look forward to seeing you all on the 26th!
Cheers,
Lynne Launt (ext 54195)
Coordinator RoboCup Jnr Qld
