Annualish does kinda make sense to me too. We had two last year, and that
seemed like too many. We've had one this year and it seemed to be a treat.
And the long weekend, while its a bit of a drag from a traffic, tourists and
double demerits point of view, does make it possible for more of us to get
our act together.

I guess as long as it is a long weekend all over. Mind you, I'd have been
just as happy to focus on the June long weekend - that seems to be popular
more or less all over.

I guess if people want to put their hand up for this fine. Brisbane worked
ok without anyone in charge in Sydney, and I wouldn't want some poor bugger
having to run around chasing people up to do think about stuff when they're
not interested, when we could just let people sort themselves out at their
leisure.
Seems to me that the one key thing is a local organiser in terms of schedule
and venue, and letting them do things the way they want. Mel did a fabulous
job in Brisbane. The idea that this is a local fest, organised by local
folk, to which interstate visitors can come if they want, seems to me to be
good tone. Let the local guys sort out whatever they want to do and the
blow-ins can more or less tag along.
Last thing one wants is the out of towners causing grief.

This is probably doable as long as a lot of people turn up. Unfortunately
air travel is not generally considered compatible with large MOCs. Armies
(bags of figs and a few sturdy vehicles) are fine - stately Melbournian
residences might have difficulty surviving Virgin Blue's baggage handlers
(and I use the term 'handlers' loosely - they seem to me to be more in the
line of beta testers for baggage manufacturers).

Brisbane's was certainly fun - I'd sign on, in more or less any theme but
aquanauts. Oh, or insectoids.

Dunno about the grand plan. It seemed to me that part of the success in
Brisbane was about the way that we did not focus on state v state, nor have
any grand alliances or complex objectives. In the true sense of BrikWars,
it was really more about a bunch of meatheads running around blasting neat
circular holes in the terrain, buildings, and each other - some of the holes
even had attractive flaming perimeters :-)
The 500 point limit (while egregiously stifling - What? No Rothana
gunships?!), seemed to be successful too.
Conscious again that I'd be happy to leave the decisionmaking to the local
dude in charge (or his specific designate).
Do we actually have anyone in Canberra who wants to take this on?
Do we have anyone in Adelaide want's to take this on?
Perth?
(Dunno if I'd be able to go to Perth, but some folks might)
And if not all round, I'm sure we could find someone in Sydney (or Mittagong
:-) who would be happy to start the cycle again...
