Looks like lego won't be dropping in price by as much as we hoped after the
GST. Apparently the RRP has risen recently, caused by TLG/LA raising the
wholesale set price. I'm currently basing this on the following:
'Impulse sets'. RRP is about $4.25. most stores now sell them for $4.99.
Also, the Craigieburn Toyworld said that they cost $3 which is why that's
the price they are for the sale...no discount
Mini-sets. RRP is $5.50. They are now heading up towards $5.99 [local
toyworld leading the way
7155 RRP was about $50, but the local toyworld [and others, I've heard] are
selling them at $59.99.
Also, other sets seem to be higher in price than one would expect.
[sorry, I don't have price lists with me, so prices may not be accurate.]
I'm not sure if this is caused by the weak $Aus [Grahame, if you're
listening, has the price of lego gone up over there/look like it's trying to
go up?] or LA trying to gain money from the incoming GST...Maybe the ACCC
needs to have a look at LA's pricing structure? [based on the GST or
otherwise]

| (...) <snip> (...) Haven't seen any evidence of price rises although with the kiwi dollar at less than 0.46 USD I would not be surprised. Having said that, I did find the Football sets not too badly priced. The small boxed sets (for example the red, (...) (24 years ago, 25-May-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
