The full range of HP sets (barring possibly those three weird ones earlier
in the catalogue) appeared in Croydon Toyworld - unfortunately this TW has
about the worst Lego prices in Victoria...  :-(
However, later on I was traipsing through the Big W in Forest Hill and my
eagle Lego eye spied a stack of 4709 Hogwart's Castle (the big one!) sitting
high above the aisles. Being an adult has its advantages sometimes... ;-)

Big W's price for 4709 is $146, 21 cents per part. Compares well to the
initial retail for the KK castle and the Martian base. Pretty much the
standard Big W price, though. So what's the set like?
Playability is good, lots of cool castle-ey doodads. I can see this set
being hugely popular with the kids. Don't wait too long, if you get 20-25%
off I suggest you buy it, I don't think it'll get to clearance. Let's not
forget the lesson of the Rock Raiders HQ.
The design is so-so. The horrible roof "cards" are really disappointing, and
the spiral staircase is conceptually cool but its mechanism is a tad
unreliable (and doesn't quite fit this castle - you'll know what I mean if
you build it). Telescope in the belfry and no window to point it out of
(stupid!). A nicely detailed "throne" room and various fun setpieces partly
make up for the shortcomings.
On the upside, the parts are good. Tons of grey arches, two BURPs, two tall
tan colums, a selection of tan pieces which beautifully complements the
Adventurers tan elements, the minfigs and their hair pieces (of course).
Seven rocket cones in the funky minty green - yummy! And how could I not
mention the curved wall elements (although I probably would have preferred
the rock printing to be on the tan ones).

Is it just me, but wouldn't Hermione look a lot cuter if her eyes weren't so
far apart? She kinda creeps me out.
;-)
