For all those people who had their international dealings stuffed up
when paypal decided that payments could not be made to credit cards (and
instead, please advise details of your US bank account...oh yeh), here
is the latest reply to my request for info about linking to an
Australian bank account:

"Thank you for contacting PayPal.

We hope to have options for Australian banks within the next two weeks.

When you send a payment, your credit card will be charged for your
payment.
You do not need a balance in your paypal account to send a payment.  You

would still go to "send money" and fill in the information like you did
previously.  After the information is all filled in and you click "send
money" your credit card will be charged for the payment.

There is an International transaction fee when sending money with your
credit card.  PayPal charges a fee when currency is converted to or from

U.S. dollars.  This occurs when you send money from an international
credit
or debit card.  The current fee is 2.6% of the amount plus $0.30 per
transaction.  This fee covers accepting payments from cards outside the
U.S., increased risk and resultant costs for international transactions,

and increased customer service communication costs as well as any
associated currency fees.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us
again."
