On Sunday, the second meeting for the gang from SEQ was held. And what a
day, there was technic, star wars, soccer, trains, remote control cars,
model team, and yes clone stuff.

In attendance were Kerry Raymond(our wonderful host), Timothy Gould, Mark
Harrison, Melody Brown, Peter Parsons, Aaron Coghill, and newies, Ken Wilson
and Gary Quinlan.

Although most of us "had smoke pouring from our ears", we were impressed by
the size of the sets.

I had a photo of a possible future UCS and an examination of the Silver
Champion was made. We had Kerry's super cars I & II to compare with and
noted that the newer sets had less and less technic beams in them.

We boys had a go at Gary's double set soccer field and I'm looking for the
next challenger to pick off (it was my first go). lol.

Kerry had a very nice lunch spread for us and whilst chowing down
discussions turned to storage and our methods. Peter and I debated the best
brick sorting method, and I think it was a stalemate, although Peter did
make a few noteworthy points.

After lunch, the heat was turned up with the trading session open to all.
Mark, Ken, Peter, and I had bits and pieces up for sale, and trading was
fast and furious (as it does in Lego).

After a few wallets were emptied, the meeting came to an end, although for
the few that stayed Kerry brought out her Mindstorm set and we talked about
the difference between RCX 1.0 & RCX 1.5. Afterwards Kerry showed us the
Vision command system.

Our next meeting? in late January/ early February

And the most important thing of all ... we agreed (I think) on a name for us ... Henceforth we Brisbanites and near-Brisbanites shall be known as BUGs. Mel and I will be Lady BUGs, while Aaron will be our resident Fire BUG. Others will have to find (...) (24 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.org.au, lugnet.loc.au)
