I rushed over to Box Hill Target this morning to pick up the Pod Race bucket
for $33 (thanks Ben, and thanks Target for 25% off!).
Anyway, later on I was scrutinising the outside of the bucket, and I saw
something rather interesting. When I got home I checked all of the most
recent boxes I have (especially the Soccer sets). They all say:

"Made by Lego System A/S, DK-7190 Billund, Denmark."

On the side of the Pod Race bucket, however, can be read:

"Made by Lego Co, Seoul, Korea."

So what is the brick quality like? After scrutinising them carefully I find
them indistinguishable in quality from any recent bricks "from Billund".
Unfortunately I don't know about the Adventurers Dino Islend sets that have
been released. Perhaps Ben (or anyone else) would be able to tell us what
the side of their boxes say.
So how much Lego do you get in the bucket? Well, it's not full, I'd say
around two-thirds full of Lego, but you seem to get a fairly decent amount
of Lego (and a good selection of useable pieces). Even at Target's original
pis-poor price of $45 it's around 15 cents a brick, compared to 25-30 cents
for your average Target SW set. I sure hope Big W stock this bucket, I could
see myself getting three more.

This is interesting, very interesting. It's a lot cheaper to ship from Korea
than Europe, right? This could be a sign that cheaper Lego is on the way.

I think Paul deserves the prize! EUREKA... That does indeed explain a lot. I knew of a factory in Korea, but wasn't sure on what they did, and who gets whatever it is that they do indeed do *breathe* So perhaps the lower prices are a permanent (...) (24 years ago, 1-Aug-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
