Well, going with this idea...does this work for threading [or do I get a
References...for the first line?]

[And yes, the server was removing the header items it didn't like :( I've
tried to get this changed...but no-go :(]

Hi, it'd depend, the server may just remove everything • except the headers it
specifically wants. Quick chat (.....).Mr SA, reckons you
may need to have a
True, but you could put the header in the body of the message, as the
first line. Then the mail server will ignore it, because it is part of
the body.
Then when the lugnet server sees that the correct "code" is the first
thing in a message body, it does the translation.
Anyway, how does the mail server know when the headers end
and the body
starts?

you get References: but getting this to work shouldnt be that hard if u can change the lugnet server software to recognise the References: line. (24 years ago, 12-Jul-00, to lugnet.loc.au)
