Dear Valued LEGO Customer:

We’d like to thank you for preordering the NEW 10188 Death Star(TM) sure to be
one of the most exciting LEGO® Star Wars(TM) sets this year!

Recently, we discovered that this product was featured on our website at an
incorrect price in several countries. We have since corrected this error, but
felt it was important to get a message out to all affected customers,
immediately letting them know of our mistake. The correct retail price on this
item is $629.99 However, since this product was listed at $399.99, at the time
of your preorder, you will be charged at the $399.99 price point.

We apologize, in advance for any confusion this may have caused and should you
have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at:
www.legoshop.com or 00-800-5346-1111.

Thank you for your order!

Best Regards,

LEGO Direct

Wow! Props to LEGO Direct for making good on *their* oops.
Plenty of net companies would try to weasel their way out/cancel the order.

Big sets like this really highlight the disparity of pricing from country to
country (explained in some part in this post
http://www.brothers-brick.com/2008/08/01/why-the-us-has-the-lowest-lego-prices/)
399.99 AUD-Michael's world....342.39 USD almost 37% off correct price!
399.99 American dollars.......399.99 USD
274.99 British pounds.........500.56 USD
629.99 Australian dollars.....539.27 USD
599.90 Swiss francs...........545.91 USD
399.99 Euros..................586.31 USD
799.99 New Zealand dollars....557.43 USD
3999.99 Swedish kronor.........620.32 USD
3299.99 Danish kroner..........650.57 USD!!!
Denmark (Home of LEGO) is 63 % higher than in the US
Is the 25% VAT already figured into the price for EU countries?
I wonder if #3 Toymaker Bandai's products are more expensive in Japan than US?
(in terms of sales LEGO is the world’s fifth‑largest toy manufacturer)

(...) yes, european prices are VAT included. Actually, the VAT amount depends of country. In France, it is 19.6%. But even without VAT, we are still far far away from the US prices :( (16 years ago, 1-Sep-08, to lugnet.market.theory)
