No, I think I gave them too much credit for appreciating the retail pricing of
Lego sets.

I wouldn’t pay 19cpp if I had a reasonable expectation of being able to pay
17cpp for the same parts in the near future.
I don’t recall many lego sets in recent years which haven’t been discounted from
their original retail price. 20% off would be the minimum discount expected.
And large sets often attract a better discount.
Those sets which haven’t been discounted from the original Australian retail
price (eg Black Seas Barracuda release, those bonus tubs), started at a price
far, far lower than 19cpp.
Of course, if I do wait for a discount, I could miss out, but that hasn’t
happened very often at all. (And certainly far, far less than the 1 in 5 chance
which can be justified by 20% off!).
