Yes I know. I should have posted about the Big W sale. Anyways. Target is now on sale too 25% off all LEGO. That is if you have any LEGO money left for this year!

AU$ 0.07 pp seems to be the common factor when prices hit bottom. (That’s apart from exceptions like Kmart Yoda).

Richie...any historical stats to back my claim ?

I’m glad you asked!

7c/piece is very low, and according to my records, there’s been only one largish set which has been on sale below 7cpp.

Looking back at some of my purchases:

Large sets:

USS Constellation was 6cpp

Fort Legoredo was 12cpp (lots of big pieces though)

Ogel Underwater base was 11cpp

Ogel Non-Underwater base was 7cpp

Enchanted Island was 11cpp

Small sets:

Mono-Jet was 6cpp

Rock Raiders flyer was 4cpp

Note that my purchases do not represent a complete picture of the prices of LEGO in the Australian market, and don’t include any of this week’s specials (curse GB’s Chatswood! They had no BFFs yesterday), but they do include most largish sets which finish with hefty discount. I tend to miss out on the really good deal $1.97 sets at Big W, for instance, due to geographic circumstances1.

Don’t forget blue tubs! They are under close to 3c/piece at $39.99 which is probably the best value (new) LEGO in recent times (certainly since the end of my dark ages). But I don’t think they can be fairly compared to a ‘set’, but it really depends on where your collection is. I’d buy a blue tub for $20, but that’s mostly for the box - the bricks would be a bonus - but I won’t buy any more at $40. (I paid $60 for my first couple of blue tubs, and I still consider that a good deal).

Cheers

If anyone would care to collect me ten or more $1.97 frontier patrols, I’d be prepared to pay a sizeable handling fee. Actually multiple Sheriff’s Showdowns would be pretty cool too - $1.97 horses & saddles are not to be sneezed at!
