We stopped by LLCA on Sunday for the AP preview and rode the Knights Tournament
ride, we did level 5 (the highest) and had a blast! Few early thoughts about
this ride:
- The line is SLOW MOVING and will probably be longer than the sky cruiser line.
Despite a short ride time with only a max of 12 people per cycle the line moved
verrrrrrrrrrry slow. And I have a feeling the ride will not be on max capacity
that often going by past LLCA experience (I HOPE they prove me wrong!!).
- The ride is great for many different ages!! With the choice of 5 levels almost
anybody (over 40 inches) can ride this ride! Level 1 is kinda like riding a mix
between the Sky Patrol and Flight Squadron, you slowly go up and around a bit -
nothing major at all. From what I saw it LOOKS like level 3 is the lowest level
that you go upside down on. Now - level 5 is a BLAST! It may not look like much
if you are just looking at it... but it whips you around and whips you around
GOOD! You are upside down for most of the ride and it is just flat out fun.
- Empty your pockets! It was nice they provide tubs for you to put your wallet,
phone, keys, etc in while you are on the ride so you do not lose them in (what
will be) the water below. And you do not have to worry about anybody walking off
with your stuff because they only let the current riders into the loading zone,
so your stuff is 100% safe. My wife also had to take off her flip-flops which is
good because she WOULD have lost them with all the whipping around.
- Women - no lo-cut tops if you plan on the higher levels! We almost witnessed a
"wardrobe malfunction" today.. keep in mind this is a kids park and we would not
want to jump-start puberty for some random boy ;)
- You are locked in very well. So despite all the whipping around as long as you
keep your head back you will be fine. And while you are upside down you still
feel very secure.
I can not say much for the theme of the area, as they were not even close to
being finished with all the theme work. BUT the Lego dragon they put up is
AMAZING! I forgot my camera today, so if anybody got pics of it please post! But
it is based on the Duplo Dragon found in the new Duplo Castle sets - but with
more of a fierce look to it (I just wish they made the wings out of bricks!!!).
I was also told that when the ride fully opens it will have water cannons like
the Aquazone Wave Racers, so that should be good on the hot SoCal days.
If you plan on visiting LLCA I say go on this ride!
