I received this from Lego today in response to my questioning the price
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear LEGO® Shop at Home Customer,

Thank you for contacting LEGO Shop At Home. The reason for the
difference in pricing is that all the 'continental' prices are related
to the Euro and therefore are the same; UK prices are slightly higher
because of the fluctuation of the Pound.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

However, 20% is still excessive given that the exchange rate has fluctuated less than 10% in the last 18 months.

Also, their 'continental' prices are NOT the same. Germany is still cheaper than Holland for example, even though both
currencies are pegged to the Euro.

Nor would I describe 20% as slight!

Okay, so exchange rate is part of the difference.  Now could the
rest be due to "price gimmickry"?  Meaning the bit where (in N.A.
at least) things are always priced at $10.99 or $12.99, but
usually never like $2.67.  So if they took the Danish price,
converted, added their exchange rate buffer (and excessive to
be sure) and came out with something like L2.04, are then then
moving it up to L2.99 or some such thing?  The lower the item
price, the bigger percentage difference this would create.

I would certainly counter their response with a few more questions.

KDJ
