I tend to think that the Legend sets will have today's parts, whenever
they have changed over the years.  I would assume that any Legend set
with 1x1 round bricks will likewise NOT have the full stud like they
used to make in the 1970's, but the modern top with the hole.  After all
these are what (in coin collecting circles) are called "RESTRIKES",
namely a modern copy of an old item.  I would also not expect to find
the older type 2x2 windows (1970s-80s), but to find the more modern
1990's type 2x2 window.  It will be interesting.

I have another point:  The Guarded Inn includes a large door
(blue) and shutters (yellow, for the 1x2x2 window) that have
not been used in new sets for some time now.  It seems to imply
that older parts can indeed return--although as to your point
regarding versions of parts that are now still available, we'll
   have to wait and see.

On older part versions, however, weren't there tolerance issues
and matters of mould compatibility that changed since the parts
were used in sets?  And what about the changeover from CA to
ABS?  It may not be possible to use the older-style parts without
creating an entirely new master mould (as in, a pattern for
   making moulds).

Here's some set's I'd like to see produced once again:

6390 Main Street (is that a Cypress tree hiding behind the building??).
396 Thatcher Perkins (already mentioned)
384/760 London Bus (never been a small set with sooooo many classic
windows).
398 U.S.S. Constellation (already mentioned by someone else).
375/6075 Yellow Castle - need I say why?
7740 Intercity Train.

I can't think of any others at the moment, but I will......

BT-1.  Something from BT-1.  Anything, really, now that we
know old decals are being recreated for the Guarded Inn.
487 Galaxy Explorer.  6285 Black Seas Barracuda.  6276 Eldorado
Fortress or 6277 Imperial Trading Post.  For smaller sets,
the size of the Guarded Inn, the Imperial Outpost (6263)
or 6267 Lagoon Lock-up would be great to see.  But if it's
now considered "proven" that anything after 1987 is fair
game, that leaves a lot of great sets open for speculation...

   best

(...) Maybe its just me, but Dark Forest/Western isn't exactly what I'd consider "some time now." :) Jeff (23 years ago, 11-Jun-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.general)
