Dear LEGO,
There has been much discussion here about the current promotion with Quaker
Instant Oatmeal and the Life On Mars sets. While the LEGO User community is
pretty good about sharing this type of information when discovered, it would
be a great idea for LEGO to supply this information on their own web site.
The purpose of these promotions is obviously to sell more of product X by
attaching the LEGO brand to it during the promotional period, and to get
users of product X more familiar with LEGO product lines. (Weren't the first
LEGO toys sold in America, sold as a promotion with Velvetta cheese?)
I don't know the terms and conditions of these promos, which company pays
which, how much, etc., so this may not be feasible, but it would be helpful
if the LEGO web site had a section or page devoted to co-branded promotions
like this with details of which brands (Quaker Instant Oatmeal, Oscar Meyer
Lunchables, Keebler cookies, etc.) were currenly running promotions with the
LEGO company either for mail in sets or chances to win prizes.
As a fan the more information that was made available would be better, but
at least a list of brands or products and promotional dates should be
included on the web site.
Hopefully this can be implemented sometime in 2001.
Sincerely,
Ben Gatrelle
