IMHO, the right sustainable replacement for ABS is... ABS.
If we solve our issues with renewable energy, to the point that we have plenty,
we can synthesize ABS from feedstocks that are ultimately derived from methane,
which we make via the reverse water gas shift reaction and the Sabatier reaction
(the net of these two reactions is 2 H2O + CO2 -> CH4 + 2 O2 )
Elon Musks Mars ambitions depend on ISRU of methane.
