  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) The current IR trains will remain in the assortment for the time being. They will eventually be replaced by the new Power Function System as well. Steve (19 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) I wonder if this means a hiatus in selling trains this year and next or whether Lego will continue to sell the IR trains during the next two Christmas seasons (trains seem to be featured most at this time). -- Thomas Main (...) (19 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) good question. while working on the new system its going to be very important that it be as backwards compatible as possible. L-gauge will not go away. the new system will be able to incorporate track from 9v and plastic rails into it. we'll (...) (19 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) The truth is finally revealed (...) No matter how much 'AFOL input' there is, it will be the decision of the company in the end (of course) (...) Exclusively plastic track means reliance on batteries, there is no other way around it. And the (...) (19 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego)

  Re: The Future of Trains

Well I posted this announcement at the (URL) site... Personally, I have to say that I have doubts that any battery powered system will meet the needs of clubs doing shows. Even a robust, rechargable battery system has considerable limitations. (...) (19 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) In some industries (e.g., integrated circuits) they do a "final build" before taking a product to end-of-life. They announce the final build, take orders, and then perform that one last production run. This keeps customers happy and allows (...) (19 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego)

  Re: The Future of Trains

I'm really afraid of what will become of this decision. What to do now? Stock up on any remaining 9volt stuff I can get? Switch back to 6-wide trains if these new motors aren't strong enough to pull 8-wides? Cross my fingers and hope this decision (...) (19 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego, lugnet.trains)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) <snip announcement details> (...) Are the expected changes for 2009 from the ground up (new track standards, wheels, etc...) or is it going to be a continuation of the existing IR train stuff with probably a new power/control system? Jude (19 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego)

  Re: The Future of Trains

(...) Okay, I accept that the LEGO Company is moving on from the 9V trains. There is quite a history of them moving from one Train platform to another. How many of us have 12 volt or 4.5 volt trains? Let me put a question to the LEGO Company. Will (...) (19 years ago, 1-Oct-07, to lugnet.lego)

  Re: wrong e-mail addresses

(...) I have one other option left. If that one brings no results, I think I'll just follow your suggestion. Thanks, Maarten (19 years ago, 31-May-07, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  Re: wrong e-mail addresses

(...) In what capacity are you looking to contact them? These days, there's a very wide variety of ways to contact Lego-- I dunno if they would have a "general contact" e-mail address. I guess one way of going about it would be to e-mail Steve Witt (...) (19 years ago, 22-May-07, to lugnet.lego.direct)

  wrong e-mail addresses

In August 2004, I asked for an e-mail address to contact TLC. I asked this in LegoLand Billund (the parks weren't sold at the time). The e-mail address didn't work. Last month, I was back in Billund. I mentioned this and asked for a new e-mail (...) (19 years ago, 22-May-07, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Informations on new TECHNIC element and color coded parts

(...) That can not be true. For example, if you look at page three of the lego factory technic section, what we call a 1x3 liftarm thin is described as 3M. --Peter (19 years ago, 19-May-07, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.lego, FTX)

  Re: Parts, Parts, Parts

(...) Hi Jordan, After an attic sort out we've been rebuilding all our lego to sell on ebay or similar (my daughter discovered her grown up brother's collection and has pursuaded him to sell to buy Playmobil). We have quite a lot, including a (...) (19 years ago, 18-May-07, to lugnet.lego.direct)

Re: Informations on new TECHNIC element and color coded parts

(...) Ugh. Is that metric? And you only count center-to-center, not the ends? Leave it Lego to think of something like this. (19 years ago, 18-May-07, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Informations on new TECHNIC element and color coded parts

(...) Also, in the distant past TLC has actually produced the non friction variety of axle pin in black (I own a few myself). Although that probably doesn't matter to TLC :) (19 years ago, 18-May-07, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.lego)

Re: Informations on new TECHNIC element and color coded parts

(...) "TECHNIC building uses the "module" or "M" as a measurement of length. 1 M is the distance from the center of one hole on a TECHNIC beam to the center of the next hole. " So a 3 L studless beam is actually 2M Steve (19 years ago, 18-May-07, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Informations on new TECHNIC element and color coded parts

(...) I'm guessing they didn't want to use lt grey because they don't think kids can easily distinguish pins and axle pins. "Standard" colour of frictionless pins is lt grey. ROSCO (19 years ago, 18-May-07, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.lego, FTX)

Re: Informations on new TECHNIC element and color coded parts

(...) Dark Bley looks a lot like black in the instructions, I think that was the thinking there. And I don't know if white 2L(*) would be any better than red, from a standing-out point of view. So, maybe Light Bley for friction axle pins, and Tan (...) (19 years ago, 18-May-07, to lugnet.technic, lugnet.lego, FTX)
