Hi Jake, (...) I'm merely setting the camera angle to 1 which eliminates perspective. I do not set orthographic. I modified LPub so the lowest camera angle is 1, and fixed the label that indicates the actual camera angle so it is updated as the (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

So to clarify, rather than use the ortho setting, you are choosing the camera angle setting and using a 1? Is that it, or are you doing additional stuff? I was playing around last night and was noticing that the creations weren't always centered (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

I ran into the want for orthographic camera, with my pneumatic adding machine MOC, and made some discoveries. You can simulate orthographic images with a camera angle of 1. I tried using 0, but L3P silently ignores this and assumes you want the (...) (22 years ago, 5-Jan-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

My littlest niece got the 200-piece play table for Christmas (I wonder who?) and we tried to follow some of the instructions inside the idea book. They are really hard for a 7-year old. The chief difficulty is when what should be a 6 step build is (...) (22 years ago, 28-Dec-02, to lugnet.inst)

(...) If you're gonna do optional lines then it'll only look correct when viewed from one direction. This means you can apply the standard cheat to solve the problem with cutoff cylinders on concave edges. Push all the edge cylinders toward the (...) (...) L3P works on one file at the time (it doesn't walk the tree), and when it processes the model, the parts and submodels have been thrown away. Otherwise you are right. (...) First, I don't think that it is related to the "smooth triangle" algorithm, because this is independent of the scale of the triangles, it only deals with their surface normals. Excellent suggestion!! I've been wrestling with MegaPOV lately, having frustration with different size submodels and the find_edges settings. I want to keep the line thickness relative to the _parts_ and not to the render resolution, but since the (...) (22 years ago, 22-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad.ray, lugnet.inst)

I just got another email discussing the use of orthographic camera and building instructions. The two do not work well together, and won't for the forseeable future. I figured out what my problem was, in my POVRAY.ini file I had the settings initial_frame = 0 final_frame = 0 initial_clock = 0 final_clock = 0 included, so POVRAY kept rending the images with Stepping and putting an number on the end of my .bmp (...) I have a test project called test.ldr with 4 steps. When I run LPub and use the Instruction Images feature everything seems to go just fine for the first step. But after the first step is rendered I get the error message "Image file test.bmp not (...) (22 years ago, 13-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

Thanks for clarification on this Kevin. I didn't realise that different settings only affected 'Complete Assembly' and not also the Instruction Images' (...) for building instructions. Hi Richard, One of the things that is ill-defined for LPub is which controls affect Complete Image, and which controls affect Building Instructions. The camera settings you refer to only affect complete image. LPub assumes that you will use rotation (...) (22 years ago, 6-Dec-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

Kevin, Well done on this newer version - it is a HUGE improvement over the previous earlier version and I no longer get the calculation errors I used to get with the numeric fields. Willy Tschager has been testing LPub for bugs and trying to make it die, which is a *huge* help to me and you. He reported the following bugs in LPub 2.1.0.1. (...) I think I have this fixed. I found a problem with some initialization issues. LPub is supposed to remember where it found these things in a file in LPub's install directory called config.lpb. Hi! I downloaded the new version and installed it. Every time I start it I have to specify where parts.lst and/or l3p.exe are. I tried it on the car, left every default option and got a message when I ran Generate > Complete Assembly: Could not find (...) (22 years ago, 28-Nov-02, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)
