Unlike some countries such as Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany, Italy has had
very few LEGO sets over the years that were produced in the Italian language.
When the first LEGO sets were sold in Italy back in 1958, TLG just started using
the International "LEGO System" for its' System of Play sets.
However, a limited number of the spare parts pack box outer sleeves were
produced in the Italian language, and are very highly sought after on the
secondary market today.
Here is what the first 1958 spare parts pack boxes of Italy looked like...

Of course, within a few months the Italian spare parts packs switched to "LEGO
System".
Here are all the LEGO spare parts pack boxes of all the LEGO selling countries
in 1958.... (starting in lower left going clockwise... Denmark, Italy, Belgium,
Switzerland Germany/Austria, Sweden/Norway, Netherlands, and Portugal.

Then after that quick beginning, there were no other Italian language sets,
until the 1971-75 Minitalia sets produced in Italy. These were because the
Italian Parliament passed a toy importation law forbidding LEGO imports. So the
Minitalia sets with Italian language boxes were produced for 5 years... even
though within a year of the import ban, the restriction was lifted... but too
late for the large expense that TLG went thru for Minitalia... so Minitalia was
sold besides the still imported LEGO sets from 1971-75...

But the most interesting of all Italian LEGO sets were the #1 and #2 LEGO sets
of 1977-80. These unique sets were produced with regular LEGO bricks, but with
black Minitalia windows/doors.
The smaller #1 set was only ever sold in Italy with Italian writing...

And the larger #2 set was also sold in Italy with Italian writing...

The weird thing about the #2 set is that it was also sold in Japan from
1977-80... in a Japanese language box...
