I'm going to post 10 images (one per day)... to show that there's so much about
LEGO that most AFOLs still don't know about... ;)
Here's the first one...
LEGO's version of the "Russian Nested Dolls"?? No... just spare parts packs
from different countries... that come in a ming boggling number of sizes... with
a common box top....

From largest to smallest...
1) 214/1 thru 214/10 classic windows and doors boxes... UK/Ireland/Australia
only (1962-65). These were very small spare parts packs, made just for a
particular window or door size.
2) all regular sized sliding drawer parts packs of continental Europe (1960-62)
and Britian/Ireland/Australia (1960-65). These were the regular parts pack
sizes for all countries outside of USA/Canada.
3) USA/Canada Samsonite regular 2xx parts packs (1961-66) and Canada Samsonite
4xx parts packs (1966-68). These were the large size (double packs) spare parts
packs that were only found in these 2 countries.
4) USA/Canada Samsonite #235 Garage Kit (USA 1961-66, Canada 1962-68). The LEGO
garage (with flip-up door) was too long to fit into a regular Samsonite parts
box. So they had to make them a little longer for these sets.
5) Canada Samsonite #700 10x20 Baseplates Parts Pack (1966-68). Until 1966 all
LEGO 10x20 thick baseplates were sold individually (2 for 50 cents in
USA/Canada). But in 1966 Canada opted to sell a box of 4 for $1. So they
needed another spare parts pack box that was even larger than the one for the
garage kits.
Enjoy!

P.S. Just some of the latest "new" images in my Unofficial LEGO Sets/Parts
Collectors Guide... new updates in 2 months free to current owners... :)
