A new LUG is born...
An European LEGO User Group : EuroLUG
The Organization
EuroLUG is a European LEGO User Group, not a division of the LEGO Group, and
will not compete with the other European LUGs. Its founded in the spring of
2009 by 6 European AFOLs and Jan Beyer. EuroLUG is managed by a Steering
Group (SG) - with a Chairman, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Webmaster, 2 Ordinary
Menmbers and a LCD representative. The SG will organize the EuroLUG
activities, assisted by EuroLUG members. The original SG consists of the
founding members. All decisions in SG are voted by majority.
The Steering Group (Founding members)
Serge Belsack, Belgium - Chairman
Verena Schaden, Austria - Secretary (LEGO Ambassador/Cycle 7)
Thomas Wesselski, Germany - Treasurer
Tobias Reichling, Germany - Webmaster
Svend Erik Saksun, Denmark - Organisation (LEGO Ambassador/Cycle 7)
Lluis Gibert Castroverde, Spain - Marketing (LEGO Ambassador/Cycle 7)
Jan Beyer, Denmark - LCD Representative
The Purpose
To establish a network, a workgroup and a think tank of very active European
AFOLs. (EuroLUG has not the intention to be or to do the same as the
Ambassadors.)
The Mission
Stimulate the contact between the different European LUGs.
Make local events grow around Europe. Give recommendatins and guidance to
local LUGs when organizing local events (support).
The members
EuroLUG members are very international active AFOLs.
EuroLUG members must be at least 18 years old.
The ordinary members come from the various European LUGs.
EuroLUG members must participate in minimum 3 events per year (of which one
can be a national event) and/or organize an international event. The SG
appoints new members by voting. AFOLs are also welcome to contact the SG in
order to apply for membership.
The Membership
Membership lasts as long as you fulfill the criteria for being a EuroLUG
member. If a member - for certain reasons (e.g. work, family, illness) - can
not fulfill the membership criteria, the SG can give a waiver for one year at
the time. End of membership takes place by notifying the SG. For new
members it is mandatory to to buy the welcome package (50,EURO - in 2009). There
is no annual fee for the membership.
Communication
Communication and discussions will take place during meetings at events around
Europe, by email or in an enclosed forum. A website is under development.
At EuroLUG events, the local LEGO employees and Country Managers can be
invited to participate at the discussions.
The Benefits
Members will get access to a network of very active AFOLs and valuable
information. When joining EuroLUG, the new members will get a polo shirt with
embroidered member and logo, the special EuroLUG brick, and the special
EuroLUG minifig. Members might be offered various special LEGO related stuff
during their membership.

| Hmmm...the things needed for for joining EuroLUG sound suspiciously like they're tailored to grant the requirements for buying through the LUGBULK program. Not that I wouldn't do the same. ;-) David (15 years ago, 30-Sep-09, to lugnet.general, FTX)
