Does anyone know of a decent official source of information about a new
Dacta product called "eLAB"?  I'm looking at the official website,

   http://www.lego.com/dacta/

which has a link to

   http://www.lego.com/dacta/elab/default.htm

which forwards to

   http://www.lego.com/dacta/elab/defaultdecaf.htm

but all the image URLs are mangles, so it's difficult to get a sense for
what it is, assuming the images are actually pictures rather than rendered
text.  It's possible that the pages aren't fully ready for prime-time yet,
but they -did- link to it from the main Dacta page.  Oh well, anyway...

From the market-speak, it seems to be some kind of special LEGO set or sets,
sold by Dacta or Pitsco-Dacta, designed for classrooms and maybe having some
cool stuff, but it's hard to tell whether it really really has new elements
and/or sensors, or whether it's a workbook-style package of educational
materials.

Sounds like one of the sets may have a new 1 Farad, 2.5-4v capacitor element
with a built-in red LED (light-emitting diode) that lights up when it's
fully charged:

Says it'll store 3.125 Joules.  How long will that power a free-spinning
micromotor?

Sounds like there's also a 2.5-3v solar cell element, also with an LED:

The URLs are working today. Guess they got many questions over the weekend over the mangled information. Pitsco LEGO Dacta has it on their web site also: (URL) interesting but kind of expensive. Christopher Good (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jul-99, to lugnet.general, lugnet.robotics)
