ONE WEEK before BrickFest - Late Bulletins and Odds and Ends
BrickFest 2006 is very close now, and there has been a lot going on - so much
that I have been behind on these postings. Some great things are happening,
like: Auction Items at Brickfest
There will be some special items that will be auctioned off at BrickFest -
Moonbase Modules! Yep, at least two of the modules that were seen in the LEGO
Designer Moonbase Contest will be at BrickFest and will go afterwards to the
highest bidder! The two modules include the winning module with the hungry
hippos, and the second place module for the Squidmen. Speaking of Squidmen...
LEGO Speakers at BrickFest There will be presentations by LEGO Designers
Jamie Berard and Tim Ainley - Jamie will host a presentation on 50 years of
LEGO Commercials and Stressing the Elements, which talks about the steps
behind designing a LEGO set and some of the construction rules the LEGO Group
uses in product development. Tim will be hosting From Squidman to LEGO
Designer, which will talk about how he became a LEGO Designer and also discuss
the Squidmen. But there is more going on... Book Signing by Allan Bedford,
Author of The Unofficial LEGO Builders Guide No Starch Press will hold a
book signing with Allan at BrickFest - and he will be bringing a MOC of his own
that is, well, tall! The staff of BrickFest welcomes No Starch and Allan, as
well as other vendors, such as Eidos Interactive (which will have demos of their
game,Bionicle Heroes) and Childrens Technology Workshop. This is only a
hint of what will be coming to Brickfest 2006 - the MOCs coming will be simply
amazing! With this, though there are some things that we are making the call
for: LCD Projectors Requested Every year, we need projectors for the many
presentations, and this is no different. If you are a local BrickFest attendee
and have access to a projector or are coming in and can spacre the room, please
drop me a line at my address above or admin at brickjournal dot com..thanks!
Volunteers needed If you attending and are coming early or staying late, we
can use some help throughout the event - from driving to setup to breakdown.
Drop a line at the above addresses if you are interested. With showtime
coming up so fast, its become very exciting for me - and I would like to thank
all of the staff in making this event a success! Later, Joe Meno Event
Coordinator, BrickFest 2006
