Hi all,

it’s been a bit of time since I last posted, and some things have been happening with BrickJournal.

Staff
The BrickJournal staff has been expanded and is as follows:
Joe Meno, Editor/Publisher
Jim Foulds, Assistant Editor
Geoff Gray, Photo Editor
Ashley Glennon, West Coast Editor
Todd Kubo, West Coast Editor

This will give BrickJournal the ability to cover more events in the US. For those outside the US, we are opening our pages to you. The next issue will have event coverage from Germany and France, and we are working on articles from other places worldwide!

Printing
Currently, BrickJournal does not have the resources to make a circulation run and is still researching. However, we have sent print-ready files to Lulu.com for print-on-demand capability, so anyone can purchase a printed copy. This method of printing is not as cheap as a print run (around $17 before shipping), but is an option to those wanting a hardcopy. A part of the price does go to BrickJournal and will be used toward a printing run. My advice is for clubs to make group orders, as there is a price drop for quantity orders. As we make more issues, they will be placed on lulu.com for ordering until we have the resources to make the jump to publication (which also means that hopefully these issues will be available at a newsstand price)...which means....

Subscriptions
will not be made available until a detailed plan for printing costs can be made, which will take a year. A reasonable subscription rate cannot be determined until magazine page counts can be determined. The first issue of BrickJournal was 64 pages plus cover, and the second issue will be larger with event coverage...these factors will have to be determined to come up with a publishing estimate and schedule, and that will take some time to research. This year will also be used to get information about downloads and demographics to determine advertising possibilities. We wish that we could be faster, but we would rather go slow and steady as opposed to fast and burned out, or worse yet, broke.

Articles
BrickJournal is looking for event reports and photography. If you or your club had an event or is having an event, drop me a line. If you have ideas for articles you can post here or on LEGOFan.org and I will followup.

So What’s Next?
Next issue will have coverage from BrickFest and also 1000SteineLand and FreeLUG Summer AFOL Day. Along with that there will be more articles on building, interviews on builders and pix of what’s been built! More info will forthcoming, so stay tuned!

If you have questions or comments, drop me a line!

Joe Meno,
Editor/Publisher, BrickJournal
