Hey all,
No doubt someone will have picture up by the end of the week, but I just got
the January 2005 Shop At Home catalog and there's a bunch of new stuff! New
sets and new pieces galore!
The front cover sports a huge red and black speedboat (#7244) for Lego City.
It looks like the pontoons are all one piece. The Jack Stone motor is used
to propel the model on water.
Lego City gets another selection of firefighter and police sets ('cause Lego
Cityzens are such unruly pyromaniacs!). Both lines are replete with new
wheel well fenders that look like a perfect half circle, although it appears
that they may be permanently attached to the chassis (WAAAH!). The new Fire
Station (#7240) sports a couple of triangular castle shields with the fire
logo on them (I believe that's new) and it also has the longest yellow
Technic axle I've ever seen (looks almost 20 bricks tall!). We get the
zodiac raft in the new dark gray. EVERY set in both themes uses the new 1x1
angled tile in trans-red and trans-dark blue for the flashing lights. The
Fire Truck (#7239) has a new curved slope that's only 3 studs long.
The Police Station (#7237) is quite large and has a new light-up minifig!
The flashlight in the officer's hand lights up! Looks like a new baseplate
(in new light gray) and good selection of white and trans-smoke. There's
also a new motorcycle design that's much more modern. Slightly more bulky,
but a more sculpted cowl. The Station's prison cell has a nice compliment
of the new dark gray.
Pages 10-11 have six new Bionicle, the Toa Hordika. Meh.
Pages 14-15 have four new X-pods! They're orange, purple, lime green and
blue. Here's the really cool part, the glass is the corresponding
trans-color of the top and bottom! There's also two new Mini Designer sets:
Robo Platoon and Speed Wings. The big set is #4886 Building Bonanza, which
is the new house everyone's been talking about.
Pages 18-19 have a bunch of new Racer sets. Bionicle teeth and the 4x4 disc
with Technic axle hole (in Glow-in-the-dark plastic) along with some chrome
1x1 round plates are all that catch my eye. Too many other Bionicle bits in
these sets too appeal to me.
Pages 20-21 have some smaller Racer sets that are just oozing Hot Wheels.
The cars look good and so do the pieces.
Pages 28-29 have two new Alpha Team sets that look like they were very
hastily photoshopped onto the page. In fact, the images themselves look
like CAD images instead of photos of real sets. There's a large two-legged
walker (#4770 Blizzard Blaster) that appears to have a good selection of
dark and sand blue parts as well as that odd electric trans-yellow color
we've only seen in a few Bionicle heads. The other set is a nifty lookin'
pseudo-scorpion with what looks like the new oval Ogel cockpit glass in
trans-smoke. Some more dark red bits too.
The back cover sports a HUGE (over 10" long) Enzo Ferrari set that's very
reminiscent of a Lamborghini Diablo. Some VERY interesting new curved
pieces here. I can't describe them too well, but imagine the new long
curved slope piece (1x6) with an arch underneath so that it only attaches to
one stud at either end. There appear to be six of them in the set.
Well, back to work! Hope y'all get your catalogs soon!
If anyone wants more details, please ask!
Dave
