Clearly it is now, since it’s priced in Euros.

Notice the “Basic” logo on the side. I thought it should be the “System” logo.

I think they’ve successfully retired “System” as a product group name. Unlike DUPLO and TECHNIC, System is more commonly known as just “LEGO”, so it’s not exactly a household name. Dropping the name isn’t likely to negatively affect sales like dropping “DUPLO” did, and “Basic” will probably be more easily understood by the average shopper.

These boxes must be really old... (no brown or gray inside...).

Not really. They were first released in 1998, according to LUGNET’s archive, and then again in 2002 in Australia, if I understand correctly. It does seem a bit odd that it’s taken this long to make it avaialable in Europe, especially since they’re releasing the 1000pc 4496 tub this year.

I have never seen a blue tub 3033 in Belgium (has it ever been available in Europe?). I only know of its existence via AFOL webpages (mostly from the USA). Untill know...
