My first pass at making a completely new Black Falcon shield:

There's a .psd file there, too, though I don't know if that's acceptable for
Brickshelf since it doesn't display unless you open it.  I've made multiple
color copies of it, and I've found that it works better with a solid
(non-bordered) background or having the border a different color than the
falcon.  Also, the detail is perhaps too ambitious printed out at the small
scale of a shield (Canon S900 six color printer).  I've also found that the
actual printout is a shade too small to cover the old shield.

Accck!  I've been infected!

I too was infected Saturdae morning and decided to take a swat at putting
together a signature shield.

Now to buy about 50 shields, to outfit the newly recruited:

Yeah, the rapiers look crummy that large (and I'm not too fond of cup hilts
to begin with), but when you print it at 600dpi it looks great - and it's
exactly the right size! Everything crisp and clear. Now I just need a color
printer.

Thanks for the templates, Anthony!!

What I found after playing with the shield designs over the weekend is that with
glossy photo paper (Canon Photo Paper Pro with a Canon S900 six-color printer)
the level of detail will hold.  Lesser paper blurs, loses saturation and
vibrancy, and need reinforcing (clear packing tape works in that regard).  So I
am going to do a whole bunch of shields, stick them all onto one big page, and
print them out on the quality paper.

For your picture, I think you want basket hilts rather than a bell guard - I'll
see what I can do with it.
