Last monday at Legoworld in Zwolle I bought some second hand bricks, including
two old train couplers as in set 403 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/403. When I
looked at these couplers at home, I noticed that they were different.
One has a gap in the hole on the 2x4 plate (just like the plates used for the
red and blue magnets, but without the lips to prefent the magnets to go to far
left or right) and the hook seems to be one mold. And the body of the hook has a
narrow part to get the hook through the gap. (just like with the magnets)
The other has a closed hole on the 2x4 plate. And the hook consists of two parts
glued together. The plate of the hook is glued to the hook. (This seperate
molding and glueing was needed, because else the hook could not be put through
the hole of the 2x4 plate.
Another difference between the two 2x4 plates is when the holes are facing away
from you the lego-logos on the studs of the first 2x4 plate are normal readable,
but on the other 2x4 plate they are upsidedown.
I made a drawing of the 2x4 plates with the orientation of the stud-logos:
I have not seen this variant on clarkcorner.
