LEGOLAND® Named ‘Best’ Theme Park in the World

Coasters, Hands-On Attractions and a High Fun Factor Make the Park a Top Pick.

CARLSBAD, Calif., For the second year in a row, LEGOLAND® California has been named one of the best theme parks in the world by Forbes.com. The popular travel feature showcases the finest amusement parks around the globe. LEGOLAND was honored for innovative and interactive rides and its wide range of shows and attractions for the whole family.

“This theme park is both a shrine to LEGO and a theme park with rides and games,” writes editor Christina Valhouli. “Teens should book a session at MINDSTORMS, where they can build robots (the program is done in conjunction with MIT). ”

This latest recognition adds to LEGOLAND California’s impressive list of honors. Recently, readers from ThemeParkInsider.com ranked the Carlsbad theme park the “Best Theme Park for Kids.” This is the first time there has ever been a winner in this category on the Website.

This October, LEGOLAND California’s General Manager, John Jakobsen, will accept the Thea Special Achievement Award from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) based in Burbank, Calif. Bestowed to all four LEGOLAND theme parks, the Thea Award was “created to honor the thousands of professionals worldwide on theme entertainment projects who strive every day to develop places and events that bring people together, capture their hearts and allow their imaginations to soar,” said George Wiktor, president of TEA.

LEGOLAND California also has been recognized by the YMCA of San Diego County as an exemplary community partner honoring the family theme park’s on- going commitment to generously helping the YMCA tell it’s story to the community. During the award ceremony, Phyllis Schwartz, general manager of NBC 7/39, acknowledged the park’s efforts to insure all YMCA kids have the opportunity to enjoy the LEGOLAND family theme park and also acknowledged LEGOLAND California’s efforts in the YMCA’s Annual Membership Drive.

The San Diego Business Journal and Wells Fargo gave a Multicultural Heritage Award to the park this summer. Another recognition LEGOLAND California’s management is very proud of.

LEGOLAND California is a 128-acre family theme park dedicated to families with children between the ages of 2 and 12. Just like with LEGO toys, kids are the ones who make things happen at the Park. They drive, pedal, squirt, climb, jump, stomp, slide, steer, pull, click, push, gallop, laugh, build and program their way through more than 50 rides, shows and attractions. There are only three other LEGOLAND parks in the world -- LEGOLAND® Billund in Denmark, and LEGOLAND® Windsor outside of London and LEGOLAND® Deutschland Gunzburg, Germany.
