The rather odd-looking 8252 Beach Buster uses a strange new
part to hold its separate modules together.
The shape is like half a friction peg, then a stop bushing,
and then another half friction peg; this setup twice side-by-side,
bridged via the stop bushings, with a cross hole through the center.
I don't quite see the point, particularly as it looks like it would,
just like a regular peg, unpredictably stay in either of 2 modules
when you pull them apart. (as opposed to a 3-length friction peg,
which can be held with its collar between 2 beams.)
Any experiences? (I just took a close look; I do not have this set.)
This is the second part that has its mounting possibilities
somewhat limited by having 2 peg-ends side-by-side, the first being
the new steering knuckle holder (Mud Masher, the above set, etc.).
(which mounts rather loosely in a beam and makes for very wiggly
wheels, while restricting the placement of bushings on the inside
and the max. turn angle - a significant step backwards from
the old design, close on the "What were they thinking?" scale
to the 8865/8880 steering knuckle arms and tie rods having
different pivot-center spacings, which causes a significant toe-in
change during suspension travel.)
